The training provided by the SOA team was exemplary in that it hit the mark from scope and content perspectives but moreover was delivered by real experts who clearly not only know the theory but have experience in applying the concepts to complex systems. This experience enabled the level of agility not usually found in more textbook style training – we were able to explore and discuss solutions to real problems rather than generic case studies. Our training needs were quite unique so it was important that we worked with a course provider who listened to those needs and developed a course which was tailored to what we wanted.
SOA worked for the Astute Submarine In-Service Support programme producing familiarisation/training materials. This comprised a suite of animations, photographs, video and text with associated notes to train Royal Navy submariners on the design and use of a very complex and completely novel capability. This was used as course material for BAE staff, supported by SOA, to run a number of courses familiarising submariners with the capability prior to commencing operations on a test rig ashore before sea trials. All users of this capability are now required to have undertaken this training.
What SOA did with the PowerPoint's was very good and refreshingly new to our business. They really brought the subject to life and it was great how the slides built up the system from first principles to the finished article, bringing in essential engineering and safety detail that demonstrated how and why the design developed as it did into the final product. It was clear that SOA have in-depth experience in product safety and safety case production and an ability to communicate this to the audience in a totally new way. The use of graphics and animations instead of text definitely made a complex subject easier to present and be absorbed by the audience. Overall we were very impressed with the finished presentation package.
The standard of the deliverables were very high and I was extremely pleased with their engineering and professional approach; it was clear from the material that it had been produced with an expert eye and a full understanding of the product. They interacted with the design and production engineers to understand the root of the problems, which was clearly reflected in their deliverable.
SOA provided a high quality training solution to a demanding set of requirements within the military environment to Performance, Cost and more importantly for this project, Time. They provided a structured and imaginative approach to a complex problem. The requirements to be satisfied were against a Product that was both novel in design and ground-breaking.
Staff employed on this contract were of the highest quality and experts in their field. They were adaptable and highly innovative enabling credible concepts to be tabled from the outset that provided confidence of delivery.
The product delivered exceeded expectations for both the quality and content. Once rolled out, the safety training package has become the benchmark for training content within this organisation.
SOA offered value for money, with both the quality and delivery of this project. Thorough analysis upfront identified clearly what was in scope and what was superfluous and resulted in slightly earlier delivery than planned.
The lectures given were engaging and interesting to all and provided students with a variety of learning experiences related to fire safety engineering and safety cases. The feedback from students has been encouraging and we are looking forward to continuing to work with SOA Engineering.
